But I have found in my life, if I take a moment to make a List (I know, how old am I?) I will be one step closer in conquering those goals. A daily reminder of what to make of life. So I challenge you to do the same and owe yourself the opportunity to smell the roses and make life a little brighter. For example I actually rode a bike for the first time in years. The last time that happened was a disaster! I used to ride my Father's 30 speed everywhere when I was younger. It was either 2 wheels or 6 on rollerblades. I was everywhere. Now imagine 2 years ago I have a date. This kid was cute and happened to be successful in entertainment so I was doubly nervous. He was an avid cyclist and decided we should bike ride through Malibu one afternoon for a first date. Great. What's the saying? It's just like riding a bike? Nope, not for this Blondesheep.
So I had worked late the night before which means I hadn't gotten to sleep until 4 in the morning or so. So of course I woke up late to his phone call that he was at my apartment. Ugh. Rush, rush, rush... Okay how hard could this be? Right? Negative. We get into Malibu and he pulls out the bikes. I had brought my purse naturally as we were riding to a restaurant for lunch. Well if you are like me, you happen to carry everything including the kitchen plumbing in your purse. Well when you are on a professional bicycle for the first time in 12 years carrying an extra 25 pounds on one side of your body... you are bound to look like a silly goof nugget. That was me. Thankfully it wasn't held against me on said date but you can be sure I was bright red in embarrassment through lunch and made him ride in front of my wobbling self.
So today I took the challenge and hopped on little Betsy and peddled ahead. Sometimes it's completing such a simple goal that can be very rewarding.
So as I look to the summer, I decided that I want to make a bucket list. Things I need to accomplish and hope to enjoy. I'll probably forget a ton, but what the heck, let's give it a try.
In no specific order, here we go!
- Ride in an air balloon
- Try out for Roller Derby (Gabby that ones for you)
- Have a dodgeball day in the park
- Slow dance in the rain while Ed Sheeran plays in the background
- Go to a concert
- Pass the written DMV test when I get back to Cali (story for another day)
- Hike to the Malibu waterfalls
- Transfer my script Finding Inspiration into a book
- Find a comfortable apartment and move (Ugh I don't like this one, not one bit)
- Have an awesome Birthday
- Spend the weekend in Ocean City, MD riding rickety rides and reading by the ocean
- Get an actual smartphone (although that's probably a bad idea, this is a maybe)
- Write a poem that brightens someone's day
- Volunteer at an animal shelter
- Watch a movie at the Forever Hollywood Cemetery (I swore I would never go back, so this will be a killer? Muahaha... okay bad joke.)
- Get a tan, even if it's only for a week. I'll take tons of pictures haha!!!
- Hang out with my nephew for the day go cart racing and mini golfing
- Go swimming (Not in the ocean... again... another story for another time)
- Bake cookies and leave the house smelling like a home
- Plant a flower
- Treat someone to an amazing day of their choice just because I can
- Try a food I have never tried before
Well, I think that about does it for me. For now. There will always be wants, needs and intrusions of life that I can't predict and will get in my way of one if not all of the above. But I am making this my declaration of things I would like to accomplish and enjoy.
From this Blondesheep to you, I wish you the most amazing day. I hope the sun is shining and you have a loved one near by to enjoy you. Thank you for stopping by as I sure do appreciate you.
Cheers and Puppy Dog Ears,
Blondesheep
