The last weekend of this month: Febraury 26th, 27th and 28th I will be running around Pennsylvania's Lancaster city like a chicken with my head cut off for the Lancaster Roots and Blues music festival. You can check out more info at www.lancasterrootsandblues.com. I am the production manager of the festival and I joined on for my second year in August 2015 to start preparing for 75 bands, 300 volunteers and over 10,000 expected guests over the course of the weekend. This being my second year and adding a slew of responsibilities I knew I had to be aware of not only my time management but also of my health.
Stress can be a very dangerous depressent. It hasn't been all roses but with the featival looming at two weeks away, I've made it this far with only a handful of hiccups.
Once the festival and wrap up is under my belt, I look forward to planning for summer!!! With all of this crazy weather, you can easily find yourself engulfed in a day dream watching a Disney cruise commercial. Well it is my goal to get to that cruise... that destination location and take some time to enjoy life with my loved one... away from the hustle and bustle... the barked orders... deadlines and all the such. This Winter started off mild and you all know what that means, it'll hit you harder when the time is right. well this weekend we have been experiencing single digit weather and with Valentine's day weekend, it has been crazy busy. I think this week has been probably the least I have browsed on Facebook in quite some time. All of my friends back West posting photos in bikinis and sunsets to die for in almost 90 degree weather. A Dodgeball friend of mine posted that he would be traveling in town this weekend from LA to NY. He put out into the cyber world if anyone had any advice on how to bundle up and prepare. I then commented (Granted this was earlier in the week) that it was a mear 15 degrees and I was already wearing two pairs of pants, two shirts, two sweaters, a winter coat, a beanie, gloves and a scarf. I guess I'm not quite used to the East Coast just quite yet again. In my defence he posted a photo of him and his girl in NYC today with a caption of... "Never Again." Lol.
I'm a tough enough cookie. And apparently Global Warming will be saying hello next week with 50 degree weather. I'll take it.
So it is Valentine's day. Here is hoping you have been able to spend your special day with someone special in your life. I know there are a handful of people who look at Valentine's Day as a corporate money maker. A day where the candy companies and Hallmark make bank. But I do have to say in a completely off topic subject that somehow has relavance, sometimes it's nice to be reminded to celebrate the little things.
Back when I was managing talented individuals I became overwhelmed with paperwork and phone calls and blah...blah....blah. Then there would be a day that an individual would send in a postcard/headshot just to say hello. It would remind me that the script that just came in was actually a perfect match to send that individual in for a call. simple reminders. From notes to silly messages in the snow. It's nice to take a day and be thankful you have found love in your life, spirit to your soul and a smile worth meaning to wake up to each morning.
With all of that Ranting... I have to say Goodnight and once again, thank you for stopping bye. I appreciate you and hope this smile finds you well.
Cheers,
Blondesheep
